Anne Harwthorn - BlogtalkRadio 'BookAdore' (Transcript- some of the conversation may be omitted FULL Interview can be heard on the hosts online talk show) Anne Harwthorn: "Hello...Seaki Ashe'...wonderful to meet you" Seakiel Ashe: "Same to you,its very early....." Anne Harwthorn: "Yes-same here. So how are you?" Seakiel Ashe: "Fine - glad to be here. You know your my very first interview."(chuckling) Anne Harwthorn: "Awesome! (laughing) So let me start out by saying that I love '3014 A.D.' I'm up to book three. I love how you write,it puts the reader right in the moment." Seakiel Ashe: "Thank You. That's my job-people work hard, my job is to take them on a journey. That's what writers do." Anne Harwthorn: " So true-that's what good authors do. (chuckle) Seakiel Ashe: "I'm not that good Anne. I just have a crazy imagination with very loud characters that roam around my skull at all times of the day. I write to let them out,if not they will drive me nuts. (laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "Its funny you should say your not a good writer. At my book club, we were comparing you to a few of the literary greats. One of my friends said you are the literary love-child of Oscar Wilde and Einstein." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "WOW-don't know what to say to that. That comment right there. Thats freak'in better than coffee. I'm up for sure now." (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: " Good- (Laughing) These morning interviews can be rough." Seakiel Ashe: "Yes-but I was already up. I start writing around 7:00 am every morning except for Sundays. Anne Harwthorn: "Awesome - so you have a set protocol?" Seakiel Ashe : "No.....I'm just a creature of habit. Kind of OCD. (Chuckling) Anne Harwthorn: "Well, from reading your books,it works. So tell me about "3014 A.D." What was the idea about-how did this idea come about-what inspired you?" Seakiel Ashe: " The book actually started a long time ago, before I got to NYC. I was living with my first lover and a neighbor was selling a typewriter-it was kind of new. I ended up buying it for this obscenely small amount of money-I think alcohol was involved as well (Laughing ) Anne Harwthorn: "OMG - thats funny...(Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "Yeah-I'm a mean bartender (Chuckling) Anne Harwthorn: "So -from this bought typewriter - you started writing?" Seakiel Ashe: "The next day. I had the strangest dream that night. I can remember it now. It was vivid, about this futuristic world that was so beautiful and high-tech. That morning I remember being hugely disappointed I wasn't in this world when I woke up. It was a bummer." Anne Harwthorn: " It was that vivid-wow." Seakiel Ashe: "From the smallest detail, the personal wrist implants,in my dream I was wearing one, I actually ordered up a meal." Anne Harwthorn: "Wow-that awesome!" Seakiel Ashe : "Yes, all the high-tech details in the books, it was ALL dreamed that night. It was like a whole word was downloaded into my damn brain."(Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "Its funny you should mention that. In your book, the holos are implants that actually download information to the wearer's brain." Seakiel Ashe: "Yes-as well as control just about everything in that persons life. Think of an I-Phone,taken to the 1000th power, place in an implant, then put in the body." Anne Harwthorn: "OMG! Thats awesome-I want one now!"(Chuckling) Seakiel Ashe: "You and me both (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "On another note, my best friend and his husband love how your portray the gay characters. We discussed this last night, I was curious about what their view on that subject." Seakiel Ashe: "It was important that I portrayed each character as real people that have real feelings. I hate stereotypes and how gays are often caricatured, sometimes by other gay authors. I mean-that cool if thats what their demographic likes. My characters are real to me, they live and breath through me. I feel their emotions, dislikes, likes, etc. I wanted to make them feel real to the reader, as real as they are to me." Anne Harwthorn: "They do real real indeed. I love the romantic scenes. You write erotica very well. Its classy but still so hot." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "Gee thanks hun. That means a lot. Intimacy is so important to me in my 3-D real life. Thats what love is about, people have sex, screw, fuck, make love-whatever. Thats the dynamic of being a human being. I wanted to capture those special moments as best as I could. Trust me-they are so much more hotter in my head." (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "You must be jokin'...wow."(Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: Naw-A lot of cold showers ova' here sister. A lot! (Laughing) But thats when I know I have captured lightening in a bottle. When the writing effects me in such a visceral way-I know the reader will enjoy it as well." Anne Harwthorn: "One of your characters 'Ba'al' he is a 'celestial'. What is that about?" Seakiel Ashe: "What do you mean.....?" Anne Harwthorn: " He reads like he is an angel, but you call him a celestial. Why?" Seakiel Ashe: "Because the word 'angel' has no actual meaning to the greater universe. Thats like calling the sun in the middle of our solar system a 'big bonfire'. These beings are so much more, well beyond our imaginations, then square that into a million." Anne Harwthorn: "Wow-now we on to something (Laughing) I love your philosophical ideas written in the book. When Ba'al explains to David some secret of the universe. Some of them are pretty far out." Seakiel Ashe: "Yeah, I know. My friends call me a 'collector of religions' and spiritual practices. I study ancient religions and cultural practices the world over. Much of what I write about is simply commons sense. I surprise people have not caught on." (Chuckling) Anne Harwthorn: "Very true - We also discussed last night how you have managed to combine several writing genres, Philosophy, Erotica, Adventure in one series of books. " Seakiel Ashe: "Told'cha - Its a big world I'm writing about and the characters come from vast backgrounds." Anne Harwthorn: " Ok-we did a poll last night at my book club. We all want to visit KapuVari. It seems so beautiful." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: OMG - It is, the visions I have, this planet is just dreamy,a wonderful place for beings to get hitched-right?" Anne Harwthorn: "Hell yeah, my wedding while be at Kapu! (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: Speaking of the future - You have seemed to buck the trend big time. Most very important authors make it big writing these dystopian novels based on future worlds that are interesting worlds to read about, but I would hate to live in these places. I mean-heck,they did a remake of 'Mad Max". That world is just plain scary." Seakiel Ashe: "I agree. It is human nature to center on what makes us scared. Its how we have managed to survive for over 85,000 years as a species. But its getting out of control. I have faith in humanity, I know eventually we all are going to get it right, and 'others' have faith in our species as well. These worlds that are being forecasted, they are the result of fear. I wanted to buck that trend with a world that is actually a freak'in awesome place to live. I mean, sure-one the main parts of the trilogy is this murderous bastard that kills huge populations of tribal civilizations for artifacts he can place in his museum, but over all, '3014 A.D.' is a hugely optimistic take on mankind, as well as being-kind. Anne Harwthorn: "We said the same thing last night. When these books take off-watch, everybody is going to jumping on the bandwagon." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "And thats the point, we need to start a dialogue based on what makes us awesome as highly developed beings. As humans-we are freak'in awesome. Why not write about a world that shows how far we have come, having the reader experience that evolution. If others are inspired, AWESOME. My job is done." Anne Harwthorn: "I love that outlook. We all think that is why these books are going to be big-because they go against the grain so hard, as well as being damn good reads." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "I just want to inspire folks to be the best they can be, hopefully this whole world. Anne Harwthorn: "Yeah!..your gonna start a worldwide revolution." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: (Laughing) Just as long as everybody leaves me alone in my easy chair, my I-Mac G4 and a cup of tea-writing my heart away." Anne Harwthorn:"Speaking of the future, where do you see '3014 A.D." going? Seakiel Ashe: "Are we talkin' dreams and goals....?" Anne Harwthorn: "Yeah-shoot as high as you can." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "Several feature films, a series on NetFlixs, I'll probably still be in my easy chair-writing away, maybe in a penthouse, surrounded by collectables from all over the world, but still living as simple as I can. I love the human race deeply, on a level I can't really understand. I want to reach as many minds and hearts as I can. This world is gorgeous and its going to get better. I promise. Anne Harwthorn: "On a personal note....and I hope you don't mind. My book club and I was wondering, we had a huge discussion about it. The reason why is because you write erotica in such fluid prose. It reads as if you have had tons of experience with both men and woman. I hope I'm not being to evasive." (Chuckling) Seakiel Ashe: "No not at all hun- Look'it. I'm a red blooded American man. I love sex, I love sexy people, you don't have to be classically beautiful to get me hot under my collar, man and woman. I love people that actually own their 'sexual steelo' what makes you different, what makes other people attracted to you. I love making love-I love fucking. I'm human. I'm also a writer to the core of my soul, so when I'm in the the most intimate moments of my young sexual life, mentally,I'm taking notes. How that person looks, how they react to what I'm doing to their bodies, how I react, what turns them on, what I did to make them dizzy with lust-and vice versa. I just have a gift at relating those experiences through words. Sex is beautiful, I don't know any human being that was hatched from a damn egg. We all fuck-lets celebrate that beautiful connection as well as love. It would make the world a much better place if we got over our shame of what makes us all cum." Anne Harwthorn: "Wow-well said Seakiel. So if you ran the world...." Seakiel Ashe: "The world would be way more populated than it is now. Sex and love would be everywhere-but with care ofcourse , have to protect the innocence of our kids. But yeah, sex on toast, sex for lunch, sex for dinner and breakfast. Sounds yummy to me. (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "Me too-this interview has quickly turned on its head. Anyways-thank you so very much for making time to talk to me and my listeners. Are we to expect another 3014 A.D. soon?" Seakiel Ashe: "Yes, in a few days. These books write themselves, I'm just the vessel. When the characters have nothing else to say or tell me,then I guess the trilogy will end. I don't see that happening anytime soon." (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "Awesome - good to know. I am a fan, keep'em com'in - pun intended." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "See, there you go..."(Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "Same to you. Wait before I let you go. Christian Kane - in your boi on your site. We all got a kick out of that last night. He is so sexy." Seakiel Ashe: "The whole story ?......" (Laughing) Anne Harwthorn: "Spill it like hot tea." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "Its strange , but I am a writer and a healer, its my life. I work with all types of energy, unblocking them, helping people. So, this young woman is on my table. When I do my energy work, I usually have the client watch television, concentrating on something else. She had a lot of negative energy in her root chakra, old garbage from an abusive childhood that was effecting her romantic life. Well she had 'Leverage' on while I was centering on her root chakra, transmuting this ball of negative energy into something more useful. I remember her mentioning the actor and I paid it no mind. To do this work, as a healer, I have to open myself up, my own energy centers have to be receptive. Its a wonderful experience." Anne Harwthorn: "Sounds awesome!" Seakiel Ashe: "It is - well as I was centering on the energy, its almost transmuted into life and love, feeling it change and morph, I looked up at the television screen and there he was." Anne Harwthorn: "Christian Kane was on the television screen?" Seakiel Ashe: "Yes - I made the comment that he was handsome-thought nothing of it. That is until that night. Seven nights straight - I had these vivid dreams of him sitting across from me. The setting always looks like some type of living room, maybe his. Anyways, over beers, sometimes glasses of wine, he just talks to me, telling me about the troubles in his love life, his fears, his views on spirituality, his career, how much he loves acting, his dreams about his singing career. The dreams were really beautiful. Just me listening as this very intelligent attractive man across from me tells me his life story." Anne Harwthorn: "Wow.....that is so cool." Seakiel Ashe: "It was as if his spirit reached out from the void and found me, I guess because my soul was open, helping my client. The dreams are never sexual, just him talking about his life, what he did that day, what he ate, his family, worries, a lot I would never tell anyone else. Its really beautiful. To say the least, after seven days of these strange dream induced conversations, I began to have feelings for the young man. In my dreams, he is so intelligent and soft spoken, so kind with his words, his spirit came across a deeply self-consciousness man with a beautiful giving heart he keeps hidden very well . And his voice, he really does have this southern accent, his words drawling slightly the more intoxicated he became. As a spiritual worker, I'm used to it. People often come to me in dreams asking for help, but they are always people I know or have met. This is a first with a person I have never met. I just chalk it up as a beautiful experience. Though I do find him so sexy. Anne Harwthorn: "Yes - he is gorgeous.." (Laughing) Seakiel Ashe: "You have no idea. Its odd to me because men and woman don't really move me in that way. These dreams actually moved my soul very deeply, something that has never happened before. Anne Harwthorn: "Wow...that is beautiful. On that note I have to go. I was just curious. What a wonderful experience. Seakiel Ashe: "Thanks for listening Anne - Be well." |
