December 2018
Four hundred hungry Native Americans, whom called themselves Manhattoes, once lived on the island of Manhattan, later called New York Bay, when Henry Hudson sailed his way down the Hudson in 1609, seeking a short route to the Indies. It is said these indigenous peoples traded their homestead to the Dutch West India Company for goods worth about twenty-four dollars. These simple people were said to be happy with the transaction, as far as the worth of the island to them was concerned.
What if the fabled Manhattoes traded their home for something worth so much more - actually making the sale of the centuries ?
What if they sold what is now known as New York City for a gift mankind has been striving towards for ions ?
Immortality
'The Sons of Manhattan' starts with this one premise, exploring further into a world of what if's, rich with fantasy and reality based fiction.
Hunu is a original Manhatto, living through four centuries , often wondering if the sale his father made so long ago was worth it. Peter Minuit, a former dutch explorer and warlock, is a man well known to the immortal native american, an adversary through the ages, the origins of Hunu's eternal youth.
Set in 2015, Hunu has become wealthy through the ages, well traveled, owning much of Manhattan south of 42nd street. Peter Minuit, owns everything north of 42nd street, including the Bronx,in which he is in a very bitter fight with another immortal, Long Island and Queens.
Problems arise between the immortal enemies when one of Peter's descendants, Penelope, meets Hunu, whom she thinks is from Arizona.
Headstrong and beautiful, the young woman falls in love with the handsome immortal quick and fast, even though Hunu knows such love is forbidden.
Forbidden by his own elders as well as other friendly dutch immortals, Hunu starts dating the lovely college student, hot and heavy, only to have their new love rekindle a very bitter turf war over one of the most powerful cities in the world.
The bitter war is made even more dangerous when another immortal enters the picture, an ex slave, Jesse Tibidoe, given immortality by one of Hunu's daughters about 200 years ago, a love the native American shaman strongly forbade, eventually killing his own flesh and blood, to keep her from the arms of Jesse.
All three immortals are immensely powerful, Hunu is a shaman with control over earth and weather, Peter has control over the spirit world, and Jesse has power over fire and spirits. Hunu has to decide if his love for Penelope is enough, even if it means breaking age old truces that may split Manhattan up into spiritual sectors , reviving old hate and fear, as well as an evil they all fought hard to subdue so many centuries ago.
